Search “best dentist in Dubai Marina” or ask ChatGPT “which interior design company in Dubai is good for villas?” and you will see a short list of names. In a city where almost every category is crowded, being on that short list decides who gets the WhatsApp message.
This article explains how SEO works in the UAE today, how it connects to GEO (generative engine optimization, the work of getting named in AI answers), and the steps we follow for service businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
How do people in the UAE search?
Most of the UAE population is international, so English is the default language of search for many categories, from clinics to real estate. Arabic search is still large and valuable, especially for government-adjacent services, family purchases and Emirati and Gulf customers. In practice we see three patterns:
- English with a place: “physiotherapy clinic JLT”, “interior designer Abu Dhabi”, “SEO agency Dubai”.
- Arabic with a place: the same searches in everyday Arabic, such as “dental clinic in Dubai” or “interior design company Abu Dhabi” typed in Arabic.
- Full questions to AI: “what is the best clinic for laser hair removal in Dubai and how much does it cost?”
Each pattern needs its own page or section. A single English page cannot win Arabic searches, and a page that never names Dubai Marina or Al Reem Island rarely wins searches for them.
SEO vs GEO in the UAE
SEO aims for the click from Google search and Google Maps. GEO aims for the mention inside an AI answer. They share a foundation: indexed, fast pages with clear facts, and a business that looks real and consistent across the web. That is why we run them together in our SEO and GEO service, with one keyword and prompt map for both.
8 steps to rank in Dubai and get recommended by AI
1. Build one keyword and prompt map per emirate
List the services you sell and the areas you really serve. For each, research the English and Arabic searches and the questions people ask AI. Dubai and Abu Dhabi often use different words and have different competitors, so map them separately.
2. Create service pages, then area pages where you really serve
Give each main service its own page with one H1, such as “Teeth whitening in Dubai”. Add area pages only where you have a branch or real coverage. Thin pages that swap the area name are ignored by Google and by AI tools.
3. Write the Arabic pages in Arabic
Translate the meaning, not the words. Use the terms people type in the Gulf, and design the page right-to-left properly. Link each English page to its Arabic version so search engines understand they are the same content in two languages.
4. Complete and maintain your Google Business Profile
Use your real business name, the most specific category, every service, opening hours for the UAE weekend, a WhatsApp number and fresh photos. If you have branches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, each branch needs its own verified profile.
5. Earn reviews that mention the service and the area
Ask every happy customer for a Google review and reply to each one. A review that says “great results at their Jumeirah clinic” helps Maps and AI understand what you are known for and where.
6. Get mentioned on trusted UAE websites
Directories, chambers and associations, local media, partners and event pages all count. Keep your name, phone and address identical everywhere. AI assistants cross-check these sources before they name a business.
7. Add structured data and keep the site fast
Mark up your organization, services, FAQs, articles and authors with schema, and keep pages fast on mobile. Neither guarantees rankings, but both remove doubt for machines and visitors. Our website development service builds this in from the start.
8. Track rankings and AI answers every month
Track Search Console clicks, Maps calls and messages, WhatsApp conversations and 10 to 20 AI prompts in English and Arabic. AI answers vary between runs, so judge the trend over months.
What results look like
For one of our clinic clients, the same approach took a brand-new website to the first name ChatGPT recommends for “best botox doctor” and “best filler doctor” in its market within four months, with visits from AI assistants growing from 2 to 41 in 90 days. Every market is different, and nobody can promise a ranking or an AI mention, but the foundation is the same. Read the clinic case study or the Saudi version of this approach in how to get recommended by ChatGPT.
Common SEO mistakes we see in the UAE
- An English-only site in a market where many buyers search in Arabic.
- One page for every service, so no page is clearly about anything.
- Different business names and numbers on Google, Instagram and directories.
- Beautiful sites with very little text, or text inside images.
- Running ads for months with no tracking of which channel brings customers.

A 90-day plan for a UAE service business
SEO feels vague until it is broken into months. This is the order we use when a Dubai or Abu Dhabi business starts from a basic website, and it is a sensible plan whether you work with us or in-house.
- Days 1 to 30, foundation: fix the technical basics (indexing, speed, mobile layout), write the keyword and prompt map, claim and complete the Google Business Profile, and make sure the name, phone number and address match everywhere.
- Days 31 to 60, content: publish or rewrite the main service pages in English and Arabic, add FAQs that answer the questions customers really ask, and start collecting reviews with a simple WhatsApp or QR request after each visit.
- Days 61 to 90, authority and measurement: earn the first mentions on trusted UAE websites, publish one useful article per service, and set up monthly reporting for Search Console clicks, Maps actions, WhatsApp conversations and your AI prompt list.
Most of the effect arrives after the first 90 days, because Google and AI tools need time to trust a new or updated site. The plan gives you a clear base to build on instead of one-off tweaks.
How to check whether AI assistants name you
You do not need special software to start. Write 10 to 20 prompts that a real customer would type, run them in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode, and note which businesses are named and which sources are cited. Use the same prompts every month so you can compare. Good prompt types are:
- Best-of questions: “best pediatric dentist in Dubai Marina”.
- Comparison questions: “difference between Webflow and WordPress for a Dubai clinic”.
- Price and process questions: “how much does a villa interior design project cost in Abu Dhabi and how long does it take?”
- Arabic versions of the same prompts, because answers differ by language.
When you are not named, look at which sites the assistant does cite. Those are the sources you need to appear on, and they usually show the next move: a directory listing, a comparison page, a review site or a clearer service page of your own. Our free SEO and GEO checker gives a first look at the technical side.
Where ads and your website fit in
SEO and GEO are slow by nature, so many UAE businesses run Meta Ads at the same time to get WhatsApp enquiries from the first month while organic results build. The two support each other: ad data shows which offers and messages convert, and that shapes the pages you write for search. Both rely on a website that loads fast and explains each service clearly, which is the focus of our website development service. If your site is slow, hard to use on mobile or missing an Arabic version, fix that before you spend more on traffic.
How to choose an SEO partner in the UAE
Be careful with anyone who promises a first-page ranking by a fixed date or a guaranteed ChatGPT mention, because nobody controls those results. Ask instead to see a monthly report template, how Arabic pages are handled, which pages they would write first and why, and what you own at the end, including your Google Business Profile, Search Console and website. A good partner explains the work in plain language, shares the plan in writing and measures enquiries, not only rankings.

Frequently asked questions
Should my UAE website be in English or Arabic?
Usually both. English is the main search language in many UAE categories, but Arabic searches are large and valuable. Build full pages in each language and link them as translations.
Do I need separate pages for Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
Only if you really serve both. Each emirate has its own searches and competitors, so a real branch or service area there deserves its own page and Google Business Profile.
How long does SEO take in Dubai?
Most businesses see early movement in a few months, and competitive categories in Dubai take longer. Running Meta Ads alongside SEO brings enquiries while organic results build.
Can you guarantee a ChatGPT recommendation?
No one can. AI answers change and are not for sale. What we control is the foundation that makes a recommendation likely, and we track it every month.
Do you accept clients from other countries?
Yes. We are happy to accept clients worldwide. We work remotely in Arabic and English by calls and WhatsApp.
