How to market a dermatology practice: the short answer
To market a dermatology practice, lead with two or three treatments people already search for (laser hair removal, acne and pigmentation, injectable consultations), show up for those searches on Google Ads and Google Maps, build trust on Instagram with the doctor on camera, give every treatment its own page, answer WhatsApp within minutes and measure cost per booked patient. Promote consultations, never promised results.
Dermatology and aesthetic clinics in Riyadh, Jeddah and Khobar compete hard for the same patients, and most of them post the same before-and-after style content. The clinics that grow faster treat marketing as one system: search for people ready to book, social media for people still deciding, and fast follow-up for both. This guide explains that system. For the service view, see our dermatology clinic marketing page.
Step 1: Lead with the treatments people search for
Pick two or three treatments that have demand, margin and free capacity. In Saudi Arabia these are often laser hair removal, acne and acne scar treatment, pigmentation and melasma, skin boosters and hydrafacial-style sessions, and consultations for injectables. Each one gets its own page, its own ads and its own monthly number.
Step 2: Check the rules before you design anything
Skin and aesthetic advertising is regulated. Health advertising in Saudi Arabia needs to follow Ministry of Health rules, and prescription medicines such as botulinum toxin cannot be promoted directly to the public. Google and Meta also restrict prescription drug ads and claims about results. The safe pattern is to promote the doctor, the consultation and the process, with wording approved by the licensed doctor. Our Botox marketing guide covers this in detail.
Step 3: Win the searches with Google Ads and Google Maps
People ready to book type searches like “laser hair removal Riyadh price”, “dermatologist near me” or “acne scar treatment Jeddah”. Run one Google Ads campaign per treatment and send each to its page. At the same time, make your Google Business Profile complete: primary category Dermatologist or Skin care clinic, every treatment listed as a service, real photos and a steady flow of reviews. Our Google Ads service and Google My Business service handle both.
Step 4: Build trust on Instagram and Snapchat
Many patients, especially women, follow a clinic on Instagram for weeks before they book. Short videos of the doctor explaining what a session feels like, how many sessions are usual and who a treatment is not suitable for build more trust than any offer. Snapchat stories work well for younger audiences in Saudi Arabia. Use Instagram ads to reach women in a realistic radius around the clinic, and send them to WhatsApp or a booking page.
Step 5: Make the website do the explaining
Give each treatment its own page with the doctor’s name and classification, what happens in the session, the number of sessions, aftercare, a price range if you can share it, and a short FAQ. These pages convert ad clicks, rank on Google over time and give ChatGPT and other AI tools clear facts to recommend you. This is the work behind our SEO and GEO service.
Step 6: Answer fast and confirm the visit
Skin patients compare two or three clinics at the same time. Reply on WhatsApp within minutes, offer two concrete time slots, and send a reminder the day before. Ask every patient how they found you, and log it.
Step 7: Measure cost per booked patient
Track enquiries, booked consultations, attended visits and treatments started, by channel and by treatment. Move budget each month toward the treatment and channel with the lowest cost per attended patient.
Treatments, channels and seasons
| Treatment | Best channel | Typical search | Peak season |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser hair removal | Instagram ads and Google Ads | “laser hair removal price” | Spring, before summer and weddings |
| Acne and scars | Google Ads and SEO | “acne scar treatment Riyadh” | All year, school and university start |
| Pigmentation and melasma | Instagram and SEO | “melasma treatment” | After summer |
| Injectable consultations | Instagram (doctor content) and Google Maps | “dermatologist near me” | Before Eid and wedding season |
What this looks like in practice: our dermatology client
For the aesthetic dermatology clinic of Dr Alaa Zidan, we combined Instagram and Meta ads with a new website built for Google and AI search. Meta Ads brought 800+ patients in 6 months from a budget of $569.56 and 5,164 link clicks, and now bring 120+ new patients a month. Within the first 3 months of the new website, Google search and ChatGPT brought 30+ patients a month with no ad spend. See the full Dr Alaa Zidan case study.
Common mistakes
- Promising results or naming prescription products in ads.
- One page for all treatments, so ads land on a page that does not answer the question.
- Ignoring Google Maps while spending only on Instagram.
- Slow WhatsApp replies, which hand the patient to the next clinic.
- Counting followers instead of booked consultations.
